Paper Guide : Paper Quality Comparison Guide

Using the right paper for the job optimizes the performance of your Kodak Versamark Printing Systems and helps ensure that the results are what is expected. That’s why we’ve prepared this Paper Quality Comparison Guide. It’s the result of years of research, experimentation, and testing by our paper scientists, working in conjunction with product engineers and the paper companies themselves. And we sincerely believe it can help you make the best choice, at the best cost, for the best results. With this guide you can compare the quality of these different paper technologies:

Commodity Papers: Designed for conventional and laser printing technologies these are the lowest-cost papers. These grades are ideal for monochrome printing and can also be used for spot and process color.

Inkjet-Treated Papers: Our scientists work directly with paper companies on the design of these papers with Kodak technology in mind. With a price premium over commodity papers (1.2 to 2 times the cost), they offer an excellent cost/quality relationship and are ideal for high-value variable color printing.

Treated Grades offer improved inkjet properties such as waterfastness, cockle, and ink adhesion.

Treated High-Color Capable Grades offer the same properties with the added benefit of improved overall color capability quality.

Inkjet Coated Papers: At 3 to 4 times the price of commodity paper, this grade gives you very high quality at a higher cost. In high volume environments, inkjet coated papers work best in roll-fed or fan-fold-fed mailing equipment.
